We Introduce Our New Technical Consultant, Tilly Catlin

11/25/2019 Recruitment

We are delighted to introduce and welcome Tilly Catlin to The Oho Group tribe, where she takes on the challenging role of Technical Consultant. Her responsibilities include reviewing CVs, headhunting, negotiating and placing our highly-skilled and talented candidates into positions within a wide range of innovative organisations.

Here, we sit down with Tilly for an informal Q&A so that you can find out a little bit more about her and what makes her tick.

Oho: Tell us about yourself

Tilly: I recently graduated from the University of Oxford Brookes, where I studied Sport Science and came out with a high 2:1. I rowed for eight years and represented Great Britain aged 17 at the European Rowing Championships. I am currently 100% focused on my new position at The Oho Group but I can’t wait to get back into the sporting scene.

Oho: Why did you choose recruitment as your career?

Tilly: When I was looking for a role, every job prospectus for recruitment highlighted attributes which I have developed through life and sport. I was always eager to transfer the skills which I have developed over the years into my career and recruitment did just that.

Oho: Is this your first recruitment role?

Tilly: This is my first recruitment role and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Oho: What made you choose us?

Tilly: The Oho Group stood out to me because of the culture. I gained an insight into this through my interviews, as well as when I was taken out to lunch with several of my new colleagues. The Oho Group has a young and fun culture which sits within a relaxed but supportive and driven environment. My colleagues are individuals who have either excelled in sport, or presently participate in it, which I love. I find the technology industry fascinating and it excites me how it plays such an instrumental role in today’s society.

Oho: How was the interview process?

Tilly: I initially met with Joe, the Sales Director, who told me about Oho and how they live and breathe their mission to partner technology’s greatest innovators, he answered any questions I had about the company and the role. I also met with two consultants, who are now my teammates, and gained insight into the role from their perspective. I really appreciated the transparency they gave and it felt easy discussing any questions I had about the role and the journey from trainee. My final interview was with Roger, the Founder and Director, who asked a totally different set of questions and afterwards invited me out for lunch with some of my soon to be colleagues, which was lovely as I got to know the team in a much more relaxed environment and I could really see myself working at the Oho Group.

Oho: What was the on boarding process like? How was your first week?

Tilly: It was overwhelming during the first week as there was so much to learn, but the support and training I received was unrivalled. I felt very comfortable within the working environment, it was more the technology content and process which hit me but the team was always on hand to help, explain and guide me through.

Oho: What opportunities are available to you in terms of career progression, training, personal development and mentoring?

Tilly: At The Oho Group, you are offered a lot of training and it arrives in different ways, you have a mentor and trainer who you work closely with, I have access to external training material, and it is an open culture and I am never afraid to ask questions. I feel like I have already developed my communication skills and am better at time management and multi-tasking. I also feel that my confidence has grown and I have developed more commercial experience from making decisions daily.

Oho: Are there any additional perks?

Tilly: There are always huge incentives to motivate everyone, which I think is brilliant. It brings out everyone’s competitive side, not only individually, but as a team. The incentives range from smaller scales lunch clubs, or an afternoon activity, to a five-day trip with all expenses covered to Las Vegas, which was for the top five billers of the company.

Oho: What have been the three key highlights since starting your career with us?

Tilly: The first highlight since starting at The Oho Group has been how lovely and welcoming everyone I have met has made me feel. My second highlight was closing my first deal. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment and a buzz afterwards. It felt like all the hard work had paid off. Thirdly was the lunch club, which was an experience in itself and one that I am hoping will happen again.
