Junior / Graduate Software Engineer
Location: Cambridge (Hybrid)
Level: Graduate / Junior (0–2 years experience)
We’re working with a fast-growing, product-led technology company in Cambridge that’s building highly scalable, real-world systems used by thousands of customers. They’re looking for bright, ambitious software engineers at graduate or junior level who want to learn fast, take ownership early, and work alongside experienced engineers from top technical backgrounds.
This is an environment where engineering quality genuinely matters — clean design, thoughtful architecture, and writing software that lasts.
What you’ll be doing
-
Designing and building backend systems that are reliable, scalable, and well-engineered
-
Working on real production code from day one, not side projects or “training tasks”
-
Collaborating closely with senior engineers, product managers, and designers
-
Learning modern backend technologies and best engineering practices
-
Contributing ideas and having a real voice in technical decisions as you grow
What they’re looking for
-
A strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics, or a related discipline (top-tier universities preferred)
-
Excellent problem-solving skills and solid computer science fundamentals
-
Experience with any backend or systems programming language (e.g. Go, Java, Python, C++, Rust, etc.)
-
A genuine interest in building well-designed software, not just shipping code
-
Curiosity, humility, and the drive to continuously improve
Experience in Go is not required — they care far more about fundamentals and learning ability.
Why this role stands out
-
Exceptional engineering mentorship and clear progression
-
Exposure to production systems early in your career
-
Modern tech stack and strong engineering culture
-
Competitive graduate/junior salary + benefits
-
Cambridge-based team with flexible hybrid working
This is a rare opportunity for high-potential engineers at the start of their career to join a technically strong team and grow quickly in a serious engineering environment.
