Senior Energy Modeller - Remote-first (UK) | Occasional London travel | High-growth Tech Startup
Are you an experienced Energy Modeller ready to shape the future of decarbonised infrastructure?
An award-winning, fast-scaling clean-tech company is looking for a Senior Energy Modeller to play a pivotal role in building next-generation optimisation and forecasting tools that support multi-year, high-resolution energy planning. Their software is already trusted by major cities, utilities, and infrastructure stakeholders to inform critical investment decisions across power, buildings, and transport.
This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact position within a growing team where ownership, autonomy, and progression are genuine
The Role:
You’ll sit at the intersection of energy systems, optimisation, and product development. Working closely with clients, data scientists, and software engineers, you’ll design and implement advanced modelling solutions that drive smarter, faster infrastructure decisions.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Translating complex stakeholder requirements into robust modelling frameworks
- Designing and refining optimisation algorithms for energy scenario modelling
- Developing high-resolution forecasting models across multi-year horizons
- Integrating modelling solutions into cloud-based software platforms
- Producing technical and non-technical documentation
- Researching industry trends in decarbonisation, flexibility markets, and energy forecasting
- Mentoring junior team members and contributing to technical best practice
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in energy systems modelling, low-carbon technologies, building simulation, or power markets
- Hands-on expertise with optimisation techniques (LP, MIP, Dynamic Programming, etc.)
- Excellent Python programming skills
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practice (version control, testing, modular design)
- Degree in Engineering, Maths, Physics, Computer Science or similar
- Analytical mindset with a genuine passion for energy transition
Why Join?
- Work on technology actively shaping net-zero infrastructure decisions
- Join a high-growth environment with real progression potential
- Strong culture of ownership and delegated decision-making
- Remote-first flexibility with collaboration hubs in London & Cambridge
- Opportunity to step into future technical or commercial leadership
If you're looking to move beyond pure modelling into a role with influence, visibility, and long-term growth — this could be a strong next step.
