Senior DevOps Engineer – Defence Tech Startup

We’re partnering with an ambitious, fast-growing defence technology startup building next-generation systems that operate at the cutting edge of national security and advanced engineering. With strong backing and a highly technical founding team, they’re now looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of infrastructure, scalability, and deployment across critical platforms.
The Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable infrastructure in a high-trust, high-impact environment. You’ll work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and hardware teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment across complex systems.
This is a hands-on position with real ownership—ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to have a direct impact on mission-critical technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) with a focus on security and resilience
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable deployment
- Implement infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability across services
- Collaborate with engineering teams to streamline development and deployment workflows
- Drive best practices in DevOps, automation, and security compliance
- Support environments that may include classified or highly sensitive systems
Requirements
- Strong experience in a DevOps, Platform, or SRE role
- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools (e.g. Terraform)
- Solid scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of security best practices and system reliability
Nice to Have
- Experience working in defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with air-gapped or secure systems
- Knowledge of networking, encryption, or distributed systems
- Eligibility for security clearance (or willingness to undergo the process)
