Experience Level: 1–3+ Years

About the Opportunity
A rare chance to join a high-performing, award-winning investment firm led by two seasoned executives with over 50 years of combined industry experience. This is not your typical engineering role. You’ll work as part of a small, cross-functional team that blends technology, finance, and research to build scalable systems that support investment and trading strategies.
You’ll collaborate closely with portfolio managers, researchers, and operations staff—giving you broad exposure to the inner workings of a modern investment business. We value innovation, independence, and a practical approach to solving complex, high-stakes problems.

What You’ll Do
You’ll be a key member of the engineering team, working directly under the Head of Engineering to build and scale the company’s proprietary trading and data infrastructure. You'll help design systems that process real-time market data, manage historical data at scale, and support live execution across multiple venues.
Recent projects have included:

  • Building real-time streaming pipelines using NATS JetStream
  • Designing scalable, time-series storage solutions with QuestDB
  • Optimising execution systems for low-latency trading on multiple exchanges

This is a role that blends full stack software engineering with aspects of data engineering and infrastructure design.
Minimum Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years in software or data engineering, ideally in high-throughput environments
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, ideally with distinction (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD)
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles, especially for latency-sensitive or modular systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to thrive in a collaborative environment

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Hands-on experience with financial systems such as Order Management Systems (OMS) or Portfolio Management Systems (PMS)
  • Familiarity with smart contractsdata oracles, or other blockchain-related technologies
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Exposure to cloud storage (Amazon S3) and columnar databases (QuestDB preferred)
  • Personal interest or involvement in crypto/blockchain investing or development

Why Join Us?

  • Work closely with senior leadership in a flat, fast-moving organisation
  • Get hands-on exposure to both the technology and investment sides of the business
  • Be part of a team that values intellectual curiositytechnical rigor, and cross-disciplinary thinking
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package
  • Opportunity to grow quickly and take on significant ownership
