What is an ASIC Design Engineer?

An application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is an electronic circuit which is created for a specific purpose, rather than for general use. ASIC Design Engineers create product design specification statements for ASIC, optimise logic design and create architectural design models.

ASIC Design Engineers need a strong understanding of digital design, computer architecture, hardware description languages, and various design tools and methodologies. They  work in industries like semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, telecommunications, and more, contributing to the creation of specialised hardware for specific applications. These applications consist of consumer electronics, networking devices, automotive systems, or medical devices.
